Year 1 Iveson Blog

Year 1 have been learning to compare numbers. We have been using the vocabulary more and less. We then moved on to using < and >  to compare numbers and we even used the = symbol as well! Number blocks helped us in our learning. How to help at home: Practise comparing numbers using 'more' and 'less'. Who has more vegetables at dinner? Are there more trees or flowers on your street? How many things can you compare?

Today Year 1 put on our Historian hats and looked at household objects from the past and present. Here are some of the things we looked at...can you tell what they are? We tried to guess what they might be before finding out. Ask us to tell you what we found out!

In Maths Year 1 are learning about sorting in different ways. Today we used objects to practise our sorting skills. Look at our hard work! Falah, Daren and Omar sorted objects by colour. Umar said "I am collecting all of the fruits." "These are things that run on a track. There are things that fly. These are all bears and these live on a farm." Can you help us by sorting different objects at home?  Look at these problems for some ideas:
