Black History Month

Our class assembly this week was about a historical moment: We talked about the 1968 Olympics, and about how Tommie Smith and John Carlos stood up for their beliefs. We talked about whether breaking the rules is a good thing or whether we always have to follow the rules. Then we spoke about how things cannot change if sometimes we don't stand up for what we think is right.

Spooky Story Telling

For Spooky Story Telling Day, Year 1 read The Return of the Jabberwocky by Oakley Graham. We acted out the story in groups, going on a hunt for a Jabberwocky. We also talked all about the interesting language used in the story. Then we talked about what different animals might look like, such as the Jab Jub Bird and the Bandersnatch.

We are Chefs!

Today Year 1 made their own pancakes . This was part of our work on English on The Runaway Pancake. We followed a recipe, measuring our ingredients and using new tools such as an electric whisk. We then used multi-cookers to cook our pancakes. We even flipped them ourselves! Look at Junaid flipping his pancake! Oliver was ver y careful when he poured out his pancake.

We are learning about number lines this week. Look at this number line - can you see anything wrong? Can you explain what is wrong? How do you know? Make sure you can give a reason!

Bring your toys to school day...

On Thursday 4th October we will be looking at how we have changed in our lives. To support this learning we would love for you to bring one of your favourite toys in from when you were younger. We will be sharing about our toys and discussing what has changed about the things we like and how we play. We look forward to seeing what you bring!
