Year 1 Iveson Blog

We have been using our Art skills this half term. We looked at the work of George Seurat and how he used dots to create his Pointillism paintings.  We practised using different equipment to create the dots. Next we sketched our penguins.  This week we used our skills to paint our penguins. Look at our fantastic art!  Zahraa working hard... Manha was very careful! Veyar... Anum and Ahmed... Year 1 have loved being artists this term.

We've had a great evening sharing stories with you all. All the children arrived in their pyjamas to tuck into a hot chocolate and a good story. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Miss Lennon and Miss Grimshaw

This week we have been learning about multiplication. The children had fun making different groups of numbers. Super work!

Louie brought in cookies for all his class this week with a special note and the recipe. Thank you Louie for your delicious home made cookies. From Finches Millie's Chocolate Chip Cookies 250g butter 200g caster sugar 250g soft brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tbsp vanilla essence 500g self raising flour 1/2 tsp salt 

We are working very hard on our handwriting in Year 1. Look how beautiful Manha's writing is!

This week we used the 100's square to count in 2's, 5's and 10's. Ada noticed we could count in different ways and showed us how to count in 4's. Fantastic work!

Last week Year 1 made a fire and we read our new story 'Bear Snores On'.  We acted out parts of the story and played all the different characters.  Who crept into the bear's lair?
