Holiday Homework - Into the Woods!

Following onto our next topics in Design and Technology 'Into the Woods' and 'Animals' in Science we are asking you to create your own animal habitat at home.  This could be a nest for a bird, a burrow for a fox, a beehive, a pond...you can get creative!  Here is some inspiration for your animal homes.  Once you have created your habitat invite your child to draw and write about their creation.  This could be the materials you used, who the habitat is for, why do they need it..

Science - Our Senses

Our Smell!  This week we have explored our sense of smell. The children took part in an experiment to guess the smell and recorded their answers! The children loved investigating and discussing the possible scents some suggestions were perfume, caramel and even fudge!  What is your favourite scent?

Science- Sound Walk

This week the children have been learning about our sense of hearing. In class we made sting and cup telephones to investigate how sound travels. We had a walk around the school grounds and recorded what we could hear. Well done Year 1!

Maths - more than / less than

 The children have been hard at work comparing quantities of objects and numbers using the language more than / less than and the symbols < >.  Ask your child what is another word for more? (Greater)  What is another word for less? (Fewer)
