Year 1 Iveson Blog

 The Year One children had the opportunity to visit Elland Road stadium yesterday.  The children enjoyed a stadium tour and made some healthy wraps with the Leeds United staff.  ⚽⚽⚽

 In Maths, the Year One children have been learning all about fractions.  The children completed their learning outside. They worked in pairs, and found quarters of shapes in different ways. 

  During Culture Week, the children had the opportunity to watch the brass band Back Chat Brass perform and the Year 1 children were taught a Bollywood Dance by Dance Days. 

  This week the children have had the experience to make chapatis with Mrs Sati.  The children mixed, kneaded and rolled the dough before watching them cook.  The children then ate their delicious chapatis whilst listening to some traditional Indian music.  

It is Culture week, this week at Iveson.  The children have started the week, by sharing images from their culture and heritage.  The children spoke about what was special about their photographs and the class had the opportunity to ask questions to find out more.  We have also explored the location of the countries on our world map and plotted our names and photographs on to it.  In addition, the children have learnt how to say 'hello' in lots of different languages today.  🌍🌏🌎

  The Leeds United foundation have been visiting Year One every Thursday. They have been completing a range of workshops to promote a healthy lifestyle and mental well being.  In this session, the children were able to explore different fruits and discussed why eating fruit was very important.  The children then have the opportunity to make their very own fruit smoothies.  🍓🍌🍇
