Our Funky Fingers fine motor challenge this week is to build an igloo with sugar cubes using tweezers. The children have tried really hard to build one today. Who will be the first one to complete the challenge?

Challenges!

In our challenge time in the classroom, some children have been very busy. They wrote mathematical challenges with their friends and asked other children to solve them with their reasoning skills. Are these challenges correct?

We are amazing at subtraction!

Year 1 worked really hard in Maths on Friday.  They worked in teams to solve subtraction word problems with lots of different resources.  Well done Year 1!

We Are Investigators

Today, Year 1 were asked to help some top-secret scientists, Some "animal scat"* was delivered from a range of Arctic and Antarctic animals and were asked to dissect the material to determine whether each animal is a carnivore, an omnivore or a herbivore. Children were looking for plant matter or animal bones to help them to make their decisions. * Don't worry - it wasn't real animal droppings - it was playdoh in disguise!

We are Artists!

We are Artists!   This half term Year 1 are Polar Explorers. We have been reading Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers. All the children used printing techniques to create our very own large book cover.     In addition to our amazing Lost and Found artwork, we have been learning about the pointillism artist Georges Seurat. The children found out that he used tiny dots to create his paintings. We used the same techniques in class. Have a look at our amazing work!
