This term the children are learning about what it means to belong to a Mosque. We have explore different Mosques and looked at some of the features. This week we had a visitor into school to talk to the year one classes what Islam means to them and what it’s like going to a Mosque. They gave us a virtual tour of the Leeds Grand Mosque, showed us artefacts and answered questions that the children had about Islam. Some children dresses in traditional dress.

DT- Marmalade Sandwiches

Image
The children have been learning about Paddington Bear this week in English. We have learnt lots of facts about him, one being that he loves marmalade sandwiches. The children were excited to try the marmalade sandwiches so we decided to make them for ourselves. We practiced our spreading and cutting skills. With the bus being ready for the children this week, we enjoyed the sandwiches we made on the bus.

This half term the children have been learning about portraits. They have researched the various styles of artist. This lead to creating their own pencil drawing and oil pastel self portraits at the end of term.  Below is a selection of Artwork inspired by Pablo Picasso’s portraits of himself. The children looked at a range of his self portraits and looked at his ever changing style.
