PSHE - Discussing our emotions

Image
As we are heading towards the end of the school year, the Year 1 children have been discussing changes within school.  They have spoken about moving to Year 2, having a new teacher and being in a new classroom.  Yesterday, children had a well-being afternoon with Mrs Gallagher. The children had an opportunity to pass around a teddy and talk about what they are worried about. The other children listened and then gave ideas to help the child with this worry. The children then had the opportunity to write a worry on a post-it note and add it to our class 'worry box'.  Mrs Gallagher then read out these worries and the children discussed ways to overcome them.

Year 1 Owls - Visit to Cookridge Court Care Home

Image
Today the children from Year 1 Owls had the opportunity to visit Cookridge Court Care Home.  The children performed "Somewhere over the rainbow", created a piece of artwork using oil pastels and baked scones to deliver to the residents.  The children loved the visit and it was so special making this link to our local community.  M.H "I loved the care home, it was so awesome. I liked singing for them." M.K "I loved talking to the old lady in the wheelchair, she was kind. She said she was a doctor in the olden days." 🌈🌈🌈

Music

In Music this week the children have been playing un-tuned instruments musically and have been trying to keep in time to the music.  The children have been listening with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music. 𝅘𝅥𝅮𝅘𝅥𝅯𝅘𝅥𝅰
