Year 1 were very lucky last week and were able to visit some farm animals on our school field. Farmer Ian told the children facts about the different animals and they were able to stroke and groom some of them as well.
Year 1 had an amazing time yesterday at Filey beach. We built sand castles, dug holes, found shells and sea creatures, paddled in the sea, bought an ice cream and some of us even had a nap on the way home. The Year 1 team would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents and carers that came along. We can’t wait to write our recounts about what we did!
Our topic this half term is Beside the Seaside. Year 1 did some beautiful observational drawings of shells last week and really focussed on the tiny details of each shell. They also practised their shading techniques by pressing harder or lighter with their sketching pencil. Well done Year 1!
In Year 1 we’ve been having lots of Maths fun outside, learning about left and right turns. The children completed full and half turns and were able to recognise their left and right. Can anyone follow directions which include left and right turns at home?
