Year 1 and 2 spent Friday morning making their very own clocks. The children were able to recognise o’clock and half past the hour. Some children were even able to recognise quarter past the hour. Well done Year 1 and 2!
Year 1 listened to the story of the Rainbow Fish, and discussed how important it is to share and to always be kind to others. The children then spent the afternoon carefully painting their own rainbow fish.
Year 1 have spent the last week recognising coins and notes. They have been using their reasoning and problem solving skills to find different ways to make certain amounts.
The children enjoyed making an underwater scene using water colours and thread. The children experimented with hole punchers and threaded wool through the holes to create waves. They used their colour mixing knowledge to create different shades of blue. Well done Year 1!
In Science today the children went outside to label parts of common plants and trees. The children learnt that the roots absorb water from the soil and the leaves absorb sunlight. We also listed all the signs of seasonal change and we discussed the signs of Summer we could see around us. The children spoke confidently about the weather being warmer and that plants are growing.
