Gardening - different groups across Y1 have been planting saplings in our school grounds. We have planted Rowan and Silver Birch trees - great learning experiences!

PE- Catalan football
We had sport couches in from the Catalan football team who put on a training session for the Year 1 and 2 pupils. The practices a range of ball skills and had great fun whilst learning new techniques.
Computing - Inspired by Artists
We have been looking at a number of artists in our computing lessons. We have talked about the tools they have used and what we could use on Paintz.app to recreate the art. This is a great free tool to use on computers that explores digital painting and drawing. We have created artwork inspired by artist such as Kandinsky, Mondrian and Matisse.
Science - Snow day
The children enjoyed looking at the seasonal changes. We talked about what they notice was happening to the weather and why it was getting colder. We went on a seasons walk around the school grounds to investigate the snow on the field. We brought magnifying glasses and thought about why the snow was melting.
Maths- Outdoor Learning
The children wrote number bonds, doubles facts and other number sentences in pairs. They then compared using greater, less than or equals signs.
Art- Andy Goldsworthy
The children have been inspired by Andy Goldsworthy and created land art and sculptures using natural resources.
Science - Body Parts
To start our topic on Our Bodies and senses we labelled different parts of our bodies. We worked together in teams to draw around a peer.
Computing -Bonfire Night Painting
We created fantastic bonfire pictures on the laptops using a range of tool on the paints app.
