We have been looking at fraction this week, and today we were exploring different ways to show one half of a number.  Have a look at how we were doing this! First we chose a number and found what half of it was. Alex and Tetiana gained confidence through working together, and then challenged themselves to find half of 28! Then they used two colours of cubes to show half of their number in lots of different ways. Caden used squared paper to show half using arrays. Here he has found lots of ways to show half of 6.  Miss Grimshaw is really proud of how hard we worked, and of how much we are taking charge of our own learning!

Today in maths we were having a quick practise of our number formation.  Arash showed us that he could write his numbers in English and Arabic - Wow!

Owls 1 were getting their detective hats on today to look at different Seaside artefacts. We look at how times have changed since the 1950's, and at how holidays might have been different in the past. Then we spent some time looking at different artefacts and asking questions about where they might have come from, and what they might hav e been used for!

Year 1 had a wonderful trip to the seaside yesterday. We went to Filey Beach and all the children had a lot of fun and some new experiences. Whilst we were there we made sandcastles and buried each other,  splashed and paddled in the sea,  j umped over waves  and we even went and bought ourselves an ice cream! We had a lovely day out, and we are really excited about the rest of our Seasides topic this half term.
