There has been some wonderful teamwork happening in Year 1. The children have been learning how to make gingerbread cottages so they've been practising folding and joining paper before making their final design next week. Keep your eyes out for our completed gingerbread cottages, we will post them for you to see!

Year 1 produced some fantastic artwork last week. We are learning to draw self-portraits so the children practised sculpting themselves using clay. They learned how to shape and join the clay together using different clay techniques. 

Look at some of the fantastic Maths work that Owls class have been doing this term. They have been learning to find one more and one less than different numbers. They have also been using new vocabulary, such as, greater than, fewer than and equal to.  Here are some photographs of their great work. 

This term, Year 1 are learning about the human body. The children have been learning to name and label the different body parts.   This week In Finches class, we have introduced new vocabulary ‘greater than’ ‘fewer than’ and ‘equals’. We discussed their similarities to more than and less than. The children were challenged to create their own statements using the mat and objects below.  As you can see, we have some excellent mathematicians in the making! 

 The children had a fantastic day competing in lots of different sports and activities. The children enjoyed competing in teams to do running races, skipping, egg and spoon races, obstacle courses and lots more!  Well done year 1 you showed great determination and team spirit. It was lovely to see you cheering on your team mates!
