The children spent the morning at Abbey House Muesum. They explored the street and had the change to dress up in old clothes. We enjoyed pretending to be teachers in the school. We also explored the archieves of different artefacts and old toys in the museum. The children enjoyed the penny machines where we could watch the puppet shows.
The children were sent a missions to protect their egg (Colonal Eggward). We spent the morning designing a space craft to protect the egg they were given. They thought of the different materials that they could use to protect the egg. We then tested the materials but wrapping each egg in a different material to see which would be best. They children then tested their eggs outside to see which would be protected.
This term the children have been using the programming app Scratch Jr to create algorithms. They have been inputting a set of instructions to move the images on the screen. They have learnt how to change the background, add and remove characters and learnt how to move their characters in lots of different ways.
The children have been learning about evergreen and deciduous trees. We went on a leaf hunt around the school ground and identifies the different trees. We then collected some leaves to do some leaf rubbings and drawings of what we found.
The children have enjoyed weeding the allotment. We used what we dug up in our science lessons we looked at plant structures and did observational drawings.
