Welcome to Year 1

Welcome back to Iveson Primary School Year 1.

We have had an amazing first day back at school. 
All the children have settled into their new classrooms and are enjoying being part of the Owls and Finches communities.
Everyone has worked hard and all the teachers are so proud of the work that the children have produced already. 

PE days will be 
Finches - Monday and Wednesday 
Owls- Monday and Thursday 
Reminder to bring in pumps, dark shorts and white T shirt to school. 


Children will be given reading books this week. If these can be brought in with the children everyday and the will be changed weekly on Thursdays.

This week we have had lots of fun in maths measuring length and height. We have used lots of different non-standard units of measure to find the length of height of ourselves and objects around the classroom. On World Book Day we have compared the height and length of characters from out story The Highway Rat by Julia Donaldson.

Computing - Piet Mondrian Art

The children were inspired by the artist Piet Mondrian to create a piece of art digitally. They used squares, rectangles, vertical and horizontal lines to create a grid. They then used the fill tool to block out primary colours. The children did an amazing job and reflected on their learning after the lesson ‘ they felt confidence in using different tools to create a piece of art.
